Turn Training Into Everyday Capability

Training is most useful when someone can apply it to a real task. Start with the work you need people to perform, then build learning around the decisions and conversations that make that work successful.

Define the capability

Describe an observable outcome. Examples include explaining a risk priority to a business leader, following a consistent onboarding process, or configuring a platform workflow accurately.

Connect the lesson to the job

Explain the purpose before the procedure. People need to understand why a step matters, what a useful result looks like, and when to ask for help.

Practice with realistic situations

Use scenarios, demonstrations, hands on exercises, and roleplay that reflect the environment your team supports. Include common exceptions and let participants explain their reasoning.

Give specific feedback

Focus on what the learner did, how it affected the outcome, and what to try next. Reinforce good judgment as well as correct steps. Make space for questions and repeat the task when useful.

Build reinforcement into everyday work

Give people accessible documentation, examples, and coaching. Managers and team leads can reinforce learning through regular reviews and practical conversations.

Check for application

Attendance is one signal. Capability becomes visible in the decisions, communication, and outcomes that follow.
